Oil retention
Principle
Oil + heat
Treatment syndromes
Often used for very tense or easily injured muscles, such as bruises, frozen shoulder, hip pain, dry knee pain. Avoid areas with inflammation because it is a hot procedure.

- Patients with hemiplegia or paralysis who do not feel pain
- Patients with diabetes
- Patients who cannot tolerate heat
- Skin areas with soft, open wounds or inflammation
Procedure steps
- Place a cotton pad on the area to be treated
- Spray oil onto the cotton, leaving a small margin
- Spray oil until moist
- Blow with a hot air blower
- Lift the cotton to rest so it does not get too hot
- Turn the cotton over and blow hot air again
Repeat steps 1-6 for about 60 minutes. Always feel the patient's heat and muscles to prevent the patient from getting too hot and assess muscle relaxation.
Precautions during the procedure
- Distance between the hot air blower and the patient's skin
- Heat level of the hot air blower
If the patient cannot stand the heat, remove the cotton and try not to move to prevent the oil from flowing to other areas.
