Peyronie's disease
Peyronie's disease is an abnormal curvature of the penis. It may be congenital or acquired. It can occur anywhere on the penis. It may be curved upwards, downwards, to the left or right. Downward curvature is a rare congenital burden. This is because there is a scar under the penis. Lateral curvature is often caused by the length of the tubes in the penis that are responsible for erection on the left and right sides. The curvature is seen when the penis is erect. It is not seen in normal conditions.
In general, the penis consists of 3 tubes. The upper 2 tubes are responsible for erection for penetration between the upper 2 tubes. There is a lower tube that surrounds the urethra and is the passageway for semen and sperm. When feeling or feeling sexual Blood will enter both the upper and lower tubes like blowing a long balloon, causing the entire penis to become erect. If any tube is shorter or has scars on these tubes, preventing them from expanding, they will bend in that direction. Abnormal curvature
Peyronie's disease is a self-limiting disease. The disease is divided into 2 stages for the benefit of choosing a treatment method.
The first stage is the stage of inflammation of the internal wound.
- There is pain in the scar area of the penis.
- The curvature is increasing.
- The erection is uncertain. Some days you can do it, some days you can't.
- Severe pain every time you get erect.
This stage generally takes about 12 months. Treatment for this stage is pain medication, such as vitamin E, steroids, calcium blockers. The main goal is to reduce pain. Surgery is not recommended at this time because the disease is still progressing and changing all the time.
Stage 2 is the stable stage. The internal wound has completely healed.
- There is a palpable hard lump, no pain
- The curvature is not increasing
- The shortening of the penis is constant
- Failure to achieve erectile dysfunction may occur if there is a wound around the circumference of the penis that prevents blood from flowing to the tip of the penis.
Stage 2 treatment is the stage where if there is an abnormality, surgery can be performed. Generally, most people with this disease, when completely cured and entering stage 2, may have only minor abnormalities and do not need surgery. However, if the abnormality is so obvious that they cannot have sex and live a normal married life, surgery must be performed or if the curvature is so obvious that penetration is impossible, or in some cases, the curvature is not so much but there is a lot of pain every time they have sex.
